Create safety through the way you communicate
What to expect
Psychological safety isn't a nice-to-have. It's the foundation everything else is built on.
When people don't feel safe at work, their nervous system responds the way it was designed to. Some push back and get defensive (fight). Some pull away (flight). Some go quiet and stop contributing (freeze). When your team is operating from protection rather than safety, they simply can't bring their creativity, courage, and best thinking to the table. Everyone loses: the employee, the manager, and the organization.
But when people feel safe, seen, and heard, something shifts. They speak up, challenge ideas, ask questions, and communicate openly. And that creates a very different kind of workplace.
In this free introduction workshop, we'll explore how the way we communicate can either build safety and connection or unintentionally trigger defensiveness and disconnection. You'll be introduced to Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a practical framework for honest, compassionate conversations, adapted specifically for the realities of managing people.
This isn't about scripts or being "nice." It's about understanding what happens beneath the surface of a conversation, and learning simple steps you can start using immediately.
In this workshop you will:
-
Learn the core principles of NVC and how they apply to everyday leadership
-
Understand how fight, flight, and freeze show up in your team and in yourself, and what triggers it
-
See the difference between communication that creates safety and communication that creates defensiveness
-
Leave with practical steps you can use in your next one-on-one, feedback conversation, or team meeting
How it works:
-
6 weekly live online session (2 hours per session)
-
Teachings, real-life examples, and short guided practices
-
Space for questions and reflection
This is for you if:
-
You're a manager who wants people to feel safe speaking honestly
-
You find difficult conversations draining, or you tend to avoid them
-
You notice tension, silence, or defensiveness in your team and want to understand why
-
You want practical tools, not just theory
